When Oxfam institutional funding was under pressure Meditor Trust provided a loan and grant to enable critical programmes to continue.
In 2018 Oxfam came under criticism for its handling of safeguarding issues related to its emergency response work in Haiti. As a result a number of institutional donors suspended funding, even for active programmes. Meditor Trust has built up a high level of trust with Oxfam having worked together for many years, particularly in supporting refugees and displaced people in Iraq. Consequently it was able to step in with an interest-free loan to continue 30 crucial humanitarian programmes in some of the world's most challenging environments. The Trust carried all risk where funding was not restored by donors. In addition the Trust made a grant to Oxfam's emergency fund.
